Throughout the digipak you can see the common theme of 'candy and sweets'. This could be suggesting the artist is sweet herself. This can also be noticed on the CD designs. One being a donut and one being swirly like a candy cane. The images of Katy laying on a candy floss cloud is a bit of a contrast because she looks to be wearing pretty much nothing with a very serious facial expression but the sweets suggest she is ’sweet’ this links with the name ’teenage dream’ im sure every girl would love to lay on a cloud of candy floss and every teenage boy would love to ’kiss’ katy perry.
In the top image she looks very mischievous and cheeky and you can also see her wearing a crown of sweets, suggesting ‘im the queen of pop but I like to be unique‘. On the track listing some of the letters have been replaced with sweets and this keeps in with the theme of the digipak. The digipak ties in with the genre of music as it relates to her style of music which is pop and also gives the audience the idea that her music is not serious and is more on the fun side, it gives off the vibe she wants people to have a laugh with life and not be too serious.
The digipak appeals to a wide audience, although the colours are mostly pinks and blues which is quite girly and the theme is more targeted at females, The fact that she is naked on the front cover could appeal to males as it is quite ‘sexy‘. The red colours on the digipak not only tie in with the theme but also could represent seductiveness and passion contradicting the sweet innocence of the light pinks and blues.
