When I first pulish the music video I would be to put it onto you tube in order to promote the song, the artist and the video. You tube is free to use so more people are able to gain access to. People would also be able to share the video link between friends on social websites such as Facebook which would then get more interest from the public and promote the video further. Word of mouth is the most effective way in which things get around. Many age ranges listen to pop/rnb so the audience for the music video would be very diverse.
I would also sell the music videos on iTunes for roughly £1.50 because, after researching it on iTunes, the majority of music videos for this genre are around that price and I think it is very resonable. This would create profit and fans would be likely to buy if they would like to be able to watch away from internet connection.Another approach to publishing the video would be to put it on music channels to display it. Popular channels such as MTV Hits and VH1 or Kiss, these are all quite popular for pop/RnB music videos. I would also put the video up on the popstar's website because fans of the star would visit the site quite reguarly. This would generate more awareness of the video and would again promote it successfully.

Focus Group.
Q1.Are You Female or Male?
my results show that I questioned 5 males and 5 females. This was something I did intentionally so I could have an equal opion from both genders and see how and if it makes a different to both men and women what music videos consist of etc.
Q2.How Old Are You?
The majority of the people I asked were between the ages of 16 and 20 years old which means that my results will be biased towards this age group. The reason for doing this was because my friends around sixth form are of that age I did ask my a few older members of my family because I wanted to make sure that the results I ended up with were varied. i should have asked an equal amount of each age as looking at my results from this question and at the results from my question about how often they watch music videos, I can see that the 16-20 year olds watch music videos more regularly than the other age groups so I am likely to get more specific and relevant results from this age group in order to help me out because they have a better understanding of the music videos and channels to find pop genre etc.
Q3.Do You Watch Music Videos Often?
Looking at the results I gained from this and then linking them to the results from the previous question, I can see that the people who said that they do watch music videos often are all below the age of 27. This helps me with my target market because I can see that my biggest audience would be people under the age or around the age of 20 years old.
.
Q4.Where do you find the music videos you watch?
The majority of the people said that they found the music videos they liked on the music channels, obviously whilst sat browsing the channels they found they came across catchy songs or the video simply intreged them. The minority side of the people said they find there videos on the internet and both put in brackets on the side of the page (you tube),This means that this website must be popular for promoting artist’s online and so I would need to look into this further. With my own personal view I also agree that you tube is a rather well known and used page.
Q5.What Genre of Music Video Do You Watch?
The majority of people I surveyed said that they watch rnb music videos most often, followed by hiphop. The two of these genres are similar in terms of their music video, for example they are both quite often both genres that will have a narrative based video to the song. So these genres are definitely genres to consider when choosing a song. Dubstep and dance music also appeared as a vote.
Q6. Name a singer/band from your childhood you remember
The answer that came up quite often was the band steps. I think this answer was common because the groupitself was very different from anything at the time. There music videos were almost like a mini sreening and they always involved a full story line, a dance number and interesting costumes. The reason why I askwed this question was in order to help me choose a song froM five years back that didn’t have a music video.
Q7.What Do You Expect To See in a Pop Music Video?
The results from this were all quite similar. People expected to see all the ‘cheesy’ stereo-typical things such as the smiley faces and close up to the cameras and the balloons, beaches and dancing etc. I suppose this would depend on the song; if the song were to be about a something sad then the video would not be so happy or may not include the happier things in life. Instead of the happy dance routines maybe some slow depressing ballet.
Q8.If you know who nikki minaj is, what would you ex
pect to see in one of her music videos?
All the answers again vere very similar and repeated. Every person knew of who she was and had seen a music video from her as she is a very popular artist, most people said music video was very fun and colourful, men, girls dancing, neon colours and make-up were all answers people gave.
Q9. Do you think a music video is a good way of promoting an artist’s new song?
All ten of the people I surveyed said that they think that a music video is a good way of promoting an artist's new song. This shows that institutions benefit from making music videos to match there song, men, girls dancing, neon colours and make-up were all answers people gave.
